In what just might be a bid to become the next Adam Sandler, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) has written a Hanukkah song.

Hatch, who is a Mormon, wrote the lyrics to “Eight Days Of Hanukkah,” which was recorded for Tablet magazine.

A sample of the lyrics:

A small band of people led the way,
Through the darkest night they prayed.
Seeking religious freedom,
Did more than just survive.
They defeated a mighty empire,
Free to believe.
Just the way they wanted to,
It made history.

Could this perhaps be a veiled reference to the battle over the health care bill, which Hatch, who opposes the bill, has predicted will become “a holy war”?

Here’s the clip:

“The Dreidel Song,” it ain’t.
