Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO) made a brief appearance on Fox News this morning and continued his attack on the Obama administration’s handling of Christmas bombing suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. He also continued defending his own role in the process — maintaining that he had no idea Abdulmutallab had been read his rights.
“That just simply was not true,” Bond said of the assertion by John Brennan, the president’s top counterterrorism adviser, that Republicans should have known after being briefed that Abdulmutallab would be Mirandized.
He was mistaken in what he told us, because none of us were told they were gonna Mirandize.
Bond also said he’s concerned that the administration “is going back to those pre-9/11 policies which won’t keep us safe.”
And when pushed about whether he still thinks Brennan should resign, Bond replied simply, “Yes.”
