Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg kicked off his second presidential primary debate appearance by alleging that Russia supported Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) because they wanted President Donald Trump to be re-elected.

“I think that Donald Trump thinks it would be better if he’s president,” Bloomberg said, asked about Sanders’ economic agenda. “I do not think so. Vladimir Putin thinks that Donald Trump should be president of the United States, and that’s why Russia is helping you get elected, so you lose to him.”

“Oh, Mr. Bloomberg,” Sanders interjected. “Let me tell Mr. Putin, okay, I’m not a good friend of president Xi of China. I think president Xi is an authoritarian leader.”

“And let me tell Mr. Putin who interfered in the 2016 election, trying to bring Americans against Americans. Hey, Mr. Putin, if I’m president of the United States, trust me, you’re not going to interfere in any more American elections.”

The Washington Post reported Sunday that Sanders had received a classified briefing that Russia was attempting to help his campaign — but that it was unclear what form the assistance was taking, nor to what end.

Sanders quickly denounced any foreign support.

Sheesh. This is not that tricky.

    A. Russia is ‘probably’ gearing up armies of trolls to wage a war of fear mongering on the “socialism” label plastered over Sanders, hoping to turn back any conservatives wavering on supporting Trump. While the socialist label will be plastered over any Dem nominee, Bernie seems draw the most anti-reaction on that topic from Repubs (my personal observation). It just doesn’t matter, if not Bernie they’d be going after Warren or whomever.

    B. Russia wants to sow discord in the Dem party. This faux support of Bernie is like pouring gasoline onto the various avid supporters. For or against. Witnessing saome of the discussion I’ve seen in threads here these days, the Russian trolls are giggling in glee at their success.

    C. The daily onslaught of fake statements and twisting lies and misdirection is ramping up at key junctures like now, this is the shock and awe of the troll-verse. The goal, make people give up and stop paying attention.

This is war. Russia is astutely applying pressure at key points resulting in us tearing apart our country from within.

And all of this socialism and Russia bullshit? It is simple, yeah Russia is doing this. So fucking what about the real motives of a known enemy trying to destroy us. Talk about the candidates and what they can do and ignore these trolls.

    So do Republicans. Go figure.

  3. I hope someone can get music with Sanders conducting the band. I am watching with the sound muted, and it is really a show, better then hearing them yell at each other. I am taping it so I can watch when I stop laughing. Their hands are all over the place with Sanders face getting red and you can see him yelling.

I love the way that some dishonest people are trying to equate Russia’s helping the Sanders campaign with Sanders approving of and welcoming if not cooperating with it, for which there is obviously no evidence. Once I hear something like that from someone, they’ve forever lost me.

I am reassured of my decision to have not voted for Bloomberg for mayor, the one time I was in a position to do so (I moved out of NYC shortly after he took office, and didn’t return until the end of his third term). IIRC I voted for Marc Green, another progressive “asshole” in the Sanders mode.

    We need more “assholes”.

What a despicable scum-bucket McCarthyite piece of shit Mike Bloomberg is. Can’t wait to see his half-pint ass drop out.
