Dr. Jack Cassell, the Florida physician who put up a sign outside his office encouraging Obama supporters to seek care elsewhere, said today that the health care bill shows that “not only do they want you to die at a younger age,” but “they want you to die a slow and painful death as well.”

Cassell, a urologist, has been making the media rounds after he put up a sign that said “if you voted for Obama…seek Urologic health care elsewhere.”

Today on Fox And Friends, he compared himself to the Peter Finch character Howard Beale from the film Network, and noted that Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), who says he is filing an ethics complaint against Cassell, “is a fool, is trying to make doctors shut up.”

Host Gretchen Carlson asked what exactly Cassell thinks is bad about the health care bill, and he responded:

As of this next year, Medicare cuts are going to be huge. Did you realize that hospice, you know which is the end of life caring, that’s going to be totally cut in 2012?

He added: “Not only do they want you to die at a younger age, as they basically ratchet down care, but they want you to die a slow and painful death as well.”

Watch:

Cassell had also referenced hospice cuts in an interview with Alan Colmes on April 2, but was pushed a little bit harder on what exactly he objects to in the bill.

In fact, when pressed, Cassell admitted that he “can’t tell you exactly what the deal is.”

Notably, Cassell’s wife, Leslie Campione, is running as a Republican candidate for Lake County Commissioner, District 4, in Florida.

She posted on her Facebook page about the sign:

Jack does not have a mean bone in his body. Jack would never turn a patient away in need, and Jack would never treat patients differently because of their belief systems. This was a symbolic exercise of his first amendment right to express the negative impact the health care legislation will have on all of his patients.
