Trump attorney Marc Kasowitz is representing controversial Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, according to a Delaware court filing.

Bloomberg first reported the move.

Kasowitz is defending Kolomoisky in a civil case brought in Delaware by a Ukrainian bank formerly owned by Kolomoisky, which accused him of embezzling $6 billion from the lender and siphoning the cash into the U.S.

Kolomoisky has separate issues with the Justice Department. He is reportedly under criminal investigation by Cleveland federal prosecutors, though the status of that probe remains unclear.

Kolomoisky has gained new relevance in recent months both in Ukraine and the U.S. His TV channel provided current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with the fame that laid the groundwork for his political ambitions. Two associates of Rudy Giuliani’s approached Kolomoisky in Israel in late April as part of a quixotic, failed bid to establish contact with Zelensky via the business magnate.

Kasowitz had earlier been retained by two of Kolomoisky’s U.S.-based business partners in the same Delaware matter.

  1. Corrupt Mob Boss and His Henchmen. And the GOP always knew this.

  2. So Kolomoisky needs a favor from Trump and the plan is for him to pay some of Trump’s legal fees. Is that it?

I expect he will get a lot more than just legal fees.

  4. Given how Kolomoisky treated Rudy and his henchmen, I sort of wonder if this move is against Trump? Assuming Trump sees him as an enemy, having one of Trump’s lawyers in his pocket could be a pretty valuable asset if things ever escalate between them.
