A new Rasmussen poll shows New York Republican gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino trailing Democrat Andrew Cuomo by 16 points — a significant shift in Paladino’s favor since the last Rasmussen poll taken in July.
The TPM Poll Average shows Cuomo leading Paladino 56.3%-31.2% ahead of the general election in November.
This latest poll shows Cuomo ahead 54.0%-38.0%, compared to July, when Cuomo was leading 58.0%-29.0%.
Despite Paladino’s gains, Cuomo still boasts impressive campaign fundraising, and the backing of some establishment GOPers like former state GOP Chairman Pat Barrett, who cut an ad for Cuomo that will start airing this week.
Paladino could also run into some trouble if his primary opponent Rick Lazio decides to run on the Conservative Party line, which Lazio hinted he might do before the primary, and is now rumored to be strongly considering.
