Last week, MSNBC‘s Chris Matthews compared the Tea Party to the Muslim Brotherhood and predictably many were not happy. Former Congressman and active Tea Party leader Dick Armey appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to return some fire at Matthews.
Armey’s response to Matthews’ unflattering comments about the Tea Party:
“I’m kinda sad for Chris. This is the kinda uninformed pejorative that he’s been guilty of repeatedly in recent years. I don’t know whether it’s his age or what, but he just seems to be slipping out of touch with reality.”
Although Armey does think Matthews is a “fairly decent fella personally” he doesn’t understand why he’s now resorted to being in attack mode and just saying crazy things. Given that Matthews’ time slot competitor on Fox News Glenn Beck tends to get the same criticism from the opposite end of the political spectrum, maybe Matthews is very in touch with reality and merely playing up a personality he thinks might be necessary to stay competitive against Beck?
