Newt Gingrich has some explaining to do if he wants to be president, and a lot of it has to do with his past marital problems, according to Stephen Colbert.
“Newt knows that before he can through his giant hat into the ring, he has to explain his past positions,” Colbert said last night on his program. “Specifically why those positions were so often on top of women who weren’t his wife.”
Colbert also addressed Gingrich’s recent claim that his passion for America led him astray, seeming to agree that that was a valid defense.
“With this patriotic defense of his inappropriate behavior, all Newt’s saying is he really wants to screw America,” Colbert said. “And if we elect him president, he’ll keep that promise.”
