President Obama sucks at naming wars, according to Stephen Colbert.
“Friday, the U.N. passed a resolution calling for a cease fire. And since then, The United States, France, and Britain have not ceased firing,” Colbert said.
But despite the decision to launch strikes on Libya, Colbert just couldn’t get behind the mission’s name: Operation Odyssey Dawn. As he noted, President Reagan fired missiles on Libya in the 1980s, and named his mission Operation El Dorado Canyon, a name that “sounds like some serious desert ass kicking.”
As for Odyssey Dawn?
“That’s not a military operation,” Colbert said. “That’s a Carnival cruise ship.”
“Oh no,” he went on, “I have to surrender to America before they threaten me with unlimited shrimp.”
