Stephen Colbert Monday night saw a silver lining in the debt limit debate: Democrats hate the deal that was brokered.
“And you know you’ve won a negotiation when the opponents’ only demand is not to have to negotiate with you for a long time,” Colbert said.
Like Jon Stewart before him, Colbert took on the tea party’s inexplicable dissatisfaction with the deal.
“Yes, this is a victory, but it could’ve been more so much more victory-er,” Colbert said. “What about a balanced budget amendment? What about a tax cut? What about making Obama eat a bug? I believe that’s in the tea party platform.”
It’s like the Billy Goats Gruff, Colbert said, where, you guessed it, Obama is the troll.
