Tuesday afternoon, President Obama sardonically “cut” Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) “some slack” after Perry’s incendiary remarks about Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke and the military’s respect for its current commander-in-chief.
On Wednesday, Perry responded with the kind of Texas swagger his supporters love, his critics hate and everyone should get used to hearing a lot more of as Perry’s presidential campaign unfolds.
Speaking in New Hampshire, Perry was more than eager to engage Obama in front if the mics.
“Yesterday, the president said I needed to watch what I say,” Perry said. “I just want to respond back, if I may.”
Mr. President, actions speak lower than words. My actions are helping to create jobs. The President’s actions are killing jobs in this country. It’s time to get America working again.
Yet again, Perry did not apologize or even step back from the the comments about Bernanke, which have drawn criticism from many Republicans as well as Democrats.
It’s a swagger-filled stance that Perry’s making his trademark on the campaign trail. And it’s the type of thing that makes the Republican base love him.
