Huntsman Reduced To Begging For ‘Retweets’

GOP candidate Jon Huntsman really wants you to get his message out there.

“Unlike @MittRomney, I stand with John Kasich in opposing the individual mandate and supporting public sector union reform. Pls RT,” Huntsman tweeted Tuesday night.

It seems that the candidate is so desperate for attention he now has to ask his followers to spread his talking points virally.

However, the substance of the tweet was almost as interesting as the plea tacked to its end: the candidate is saying he supports Ohio governor John Kasich’s bill curtailing the bargaining rights of public unions. He’s also honing in on the spreading conservative outrage over Romney’s apparent flip on that subject.

The proposal is coming up for a vote in a referendum known as SB 5. Romney yesterday visited a phone bank where volunteers were making calls in favor of the bill, but dodged taking a position on it himself. That’s raised eyebrows since back in June he wrote on his Facebook page that he supported Kasich’s efforts “to limit the power of union bosses and keep taxes low.” Now that polls suggest the bill will go down in flames, however, Romney’s apparently taking the more nuanced position that “particular ballot issues” are “up to the people of Ohio.”
