It’s still very early in the Herman Cain sexual harassment saga. But so far, the scandal doesn’t seem to be hurting the GOP frontrunner in Iowa.
That’s according to an unscientific poll from the Des Moines Register out Tuesday. Register staff called 20 people who participated in last week’s Register poll — which found Cain with a one-point lead over Mitt Romney in the first caucus state — and found that they’re not losing faith in their frontrunner because of the harassment story.
“None said the allegations had moved them to reject Cain as a potential pick,” the Register reports.
A glance at the news Tuesday suggests there’s more detail to come in this story before it fades into the background. And as more comes out, Cain’s support could certainly take a hit. But with conservative media figures getting behind him, and an early check of the temperature among Iowa voters sounding promising , Cain should be feeling pretty good about how this has landed so far.
