“Santa’s back with his bag of goodies,” the Scottsdale Gun Club in Arizona announces on its website. Instead of toy soldiers, Santa’s carrying real machine guns, and for $10, non-members can get a picture taken with Santa and his hardware.
Brooke Rodda, a spokeswoman for the club, told MSNBC that “It’s been really fun” and the club has “had a tremendous response from the community.”
According to Rodda, about 100 people showed up for the first photo op, where about $170,000 worth of firearms are on display, and more are expected at the Dec. 10 shoot. And it’s not just for gun-lovers, she said. “It has a broader appeal from families to older people,” Rodda said.
Scottsdale Gun Club did not immediately return TPM’s request for further comment.
