Stuffing Cash In Bra, Flushing Check Down Toilet During Coverup Will Get You A Year In Prison

Leslie Johnson, the former Prince George’s County council member who stuffed thousands of dollars of cash in her underwear and flushed a check down the toilet as FBI agents knocked on the door to her home, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison on Friday.

Johnson’s husband Jack B. Johnson, the former county executive, was sentenced to over seven years in prison in his corruption case earlier this week. Both were arrested last November, just after Leslie Johnson was elected to office and as her husband’s term was winding down. Once the FBI searched the home, they recovered $79,600 in cash in her underwear.

Johnson will be under supervised release for two years after she completes her prison term and will be required to perform 240 hrs of commnunity service. She is scheduled to report to prison in March.
