Move over, “you’re no Jack Kennedy.” Stand aside, “a noun and a verb and 9/11” — “pious baloney” just entered the annals of debate quips.
On the debate state Sunday morning in New Hampshire, Newt Gingrich went hard at Mitt Romney after Romney tried to sell his line that he’s not now nor ever has he been a career politician.
The last time Romney tried this on a debate stage, Gingrich stepped up with a reminder that the only reason Romney didn’t have a long political career was that he lost to Ted Kennedy in 1994.
On Sunday, Gingrich took that attack to the next level.
“Can we drop the pious baloney?” he said.
