Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are in a dead heat in Texas in a new Washington Post/Survey Monkey poll out Tuesday, with Clinton’s one-point lead prompting the pollsters to reclassifying the historically deep red state a “tossup.”

The 50 state poll of more than 74,000 registered voters, with 5,000 polled in Texas, gave Clinton a slight edge, polling 46 to Trump’s 47 percent support. The poll also showed Clinton leading by just two points in Colorado and Florida, with the candidates tied in North Carolina.

The Washington Post/Survey Monkey poll also showed Trump “within striking distance” in the Upper Midwest, with the Republican holding a three-point edge in Ohio and a four-point lead in Iowa. In Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, states that have voted Democratic in six consecutive elections, Clinton and Trump are separated by fewer than five points.

Along with Texas, the poll also showed Trump struggling in Arizona and Georgia, typically Republican-voting states, both “tossup” states that show Clinton and Trump in a dead heat.

The poll was conducted from Aug. 9 to Sept. 1, with the sample size for individual states varying from about 550 to 5,000. Respondents were recruited from users of SurveyMonkey’s polling platform, who were invited to complete another survey after completing separate surveys generated by site users. No margin of sampling error was calculated.
