A pair of new polls has good news for Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) but shows she’s hardly out of the woods yet.

The two polls, both released on Monday, show a tight race between Hagan and North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in the race.

The first poll, from Time Warner Cable News, shows Hagan leading Tillis 44 percent to 41 percent with another 7 percent going to Libertarian Sean Haugh among likely voters. The final 8 percent said they remain undecided.

Meanwhile, a High Point University poll finds the two candidates tied at 40 percent each among likely voters if the election were held today. Haugh, like in the Time Warner poll, got 7 percent in the High Point University poll. Another 13 percent said they didn’t.

Together, the polls show that the race remains tenuous but slightly favorable to Hagan.

The TPM Polltracker average gives Hagan a 2.4 point lead over Tillis.
