Monmouth Poll: Clinton And McMullin Edge Into Trump’s Lead In Utah

Donald Trump leads by just six points in deep red Utah, with Independent conservative candidate Evan McMullin holding a fifth of the state’s votes in a Monmouth poll conducted after the release of a video containing offensive language about women.

Trump leads Hillary Clinton, 34-28, with McMullin following at 20 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson at 9 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 1 percent.

In a mid-September from Dan Jones/Salt Lake Tribune/Hinckley Institute of Politics, Trump led in Utah by nine points, 34-25, with Johnson at 13 percent and McMullin at 12 percent. Monmouth has not previously polled the state on the general election.

The Monmouth University poll was conducted. Oct. 10-12 among 403 likely Utah voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

TPM’s PollTracker Average for the general election in Utah shows Trump leading Clinton, 31.3 to 27.3.
