Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) has pulled ahead of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by a 14-point margin in New Hampshire, according to a Monmouth University poll released Tuesday.
The poll showed Sanders at 53 percent in New Hampshire compared to Clinton’s 39 percent. When Monmouth last polled the state’s Democrats in November, Clinton enjoyed a three-point lead over Sanders.
The strong national lead Clinton maintained throughout the fall was never reflected in New Hampshire, where Sanders, a senator from neighboring Vermont, frequently polled better than the Democratic frontrunner. A Sanders surge in New Hampshire would come as several polls suggest he’s pulling ahead in Iowa as well.
The Monmouth poll surveyed 413 likely Democratic voters in New Hampshire by phone from January 7-10. It had a margin of error of 4.8 percentage points.
Senate.gov still lists him as (I-VT).
Clinton’s advantage was only name recognition. When people get to know Sanders, they like him more; when they get to know Clinton, they like her less.
but, but, but… HRC is leading in RCP averages including old polling in states where no campaigning has taken place…
and also in national polls that include states no one is campaigning in that will be sending zero Electoral votes to the eventual dem nominee.
in other words HRC is as inevitable as she was in 2007/2008 but with one advantage she didnt have then, a crony running the DNC.
