Seventy-eight percent of Republican primary voters said that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) should cease his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The survey from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling found that only 15 percent Republican primary voters said Graham should continue.

Graham, who continues to represent the state of South Carolina while he runs for President, also had 51 percent of GOP primary voters unhappy with his congressional performance.

The poor numbers are compounded by his near-last-place finish among Republican candidates in South Carolina. Celebrity tycoon Donald Trump led the state at 37 percent with former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson polling at 21 percent.

Graham, along with 15 other candidates did not poll above 6 percent.

The poll was conducted among 764 usual Republican primary voters from Sept. 3-6. Twenty percent of respondents completed the survey online while all others responded by phone. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.6 percent.
