Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) has a lead of five percentage points over billionaire Donald Trump in his home state, according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday.
The poll showed support for Kasich at 34 percent, while Trump stood at 29 percent. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was at 19 percent of support while Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) languished at 7 percent.
This is the first Fox poll in Ohio, where polling has been relatively sparse. Trump has led the Republican field in virtually all of the polls that have been conducted there, but by margins much smaller than those he has consistently enjoyed in national polling.
Following this poll, TPM’s PollTracker Average shows Kasich enjoying a slim lead at 33.3 percent, followed by Trump at 32 percent, Cruz at 18 percent and Rubio at 7.7 percent.
The Fox News poll was carried out form March 5-8 by live phone interviews. Pollsters surveyed 806 people likely to vote in the Republican primary, with a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
Go John go
No! Kasich is every bit as vile as Trump, although in different areas, but he’s far more dangerous. He can play the George W Bush “compassionate conservative” 'moderate Republican" cards, when he is as conservative as they come. He will destroy women’s rights completely, gut labor, and any civil rights that go against his Catholic (and I’m not talking Pope Francis Catholic, I’m talking Pope Benedict) religious beliefs. With Trump and Cruz, what you see is what you get. With Kasich, you are getting a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I’m from Ohio, I know what of I speak.
