Incumbent Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) leads Democratic challenger Jason Kander by two points the race for the U.S. Senate seat in Missouri, according to a new Monmouth University poll.

Blunt leads current Missouri Secretary of State Kander, 46-44, with Libertarian candidate Jonathan Dine following at 4 percent.

Kander has closed in since Monmouth last polled Missouri’s likely voters in August. In that poll, Blunt led by five points, 48-43, with Dine polling at 3 percent.

The Monmouth University poll was conducted Oct. 9-11 among 406 likely voters in Missouri, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

TPM’s PollTracker Average for the U.S. Senate election in Missouri shows a tossup, with Blunt leading Kander, 44 to 43.3.

  1. Oh how I hope this flips. My home state would make me so proud. And added benefit is Kander seems to me to be a pretty bright guy and potentially a rising star should he win the seat. Time to get busy!

  2. Jason Kander is on the conservative side of the left, but with that said it’s time for Roy Boy to go.

I wouldn’t be shocked if this happened, but I would be surprised.

  4. Most MO Dems are. It’s sort of how they have to be to survive.

Not how things used to be here. Once it was a fairly balanced state with some degree of civil dialogue between the parties. Elections were always close.
