Democratic State Rep. Paul Davis has regained his lead over Republican Gov. Sam Brownback in the Kansas gubernatorial race, according to a Monmouth University poll released Monday.
Among likely voters, 50 percent said they would vote for Davis and 45 percent said they supported Brownback.
After Davis had an early lead over Brownback and has the support of many Republican officials in the state, recent polls showed the race narrowing. Two October polls found Brownback with a lead over Davis.
According to TPM’s Polltracker average, Brownback has a 2.1 point lead over Davis.
Monmouth University surveyed 429 likely Kansas voters via phone Oct. 16-19 with a margin of error plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.
He never was behind, just like Pres. Obama was never behind in 2012.
I agree, I think Brownback is toast. I am more comfortable with this race than I am with Crist winning Florida at this point, to be honest.
The TPM polltracker uses some marginal and highly unrelaiable polls in its averages, which skew the polling toward Brownback.
Davis is not behind. Davis will take Wyandotte and Douglas counties for sure, and probably Sedgwick. It is pretty tight in Johnson County, and of course Brownback leads in all the rural counties.
Davis will carry Shawnee County, as well, and possibly even Riley (Manhattan). Most of the counties with the larger school populations will be against Brownback since he unconstitutionally gutted their funding levels.
