Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump held double-digit leads over his rivals in the early voting states Nevada and South Carolina, according to a CNN poll released Wednesday.

Nevada and South Carolina are the next nominating states after Iowa and New Hampshire.

In Nevada, Trump had 38 percent of support among likely GOP caucus goers and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson had 22 percent. In South Carolina, Trump had 36 percent of likely Republican primary voters while Carson got 18 percent.

No other candidate in either state had more than 10 percent support in the polls.

The CNN/ORC polls were conducted by phone from Oct. 3-10.

In South Carolina, 1,009 adults living in the state were interviewed. Of those, 521 said they were likely to vote in the Republican presidential primary. Results from that state had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

In Nevada, 1,011 adults living in the state were interviewed. Of those, 285 said they were likely to participate in the Republican presidential caucus with a margin of error of 6 points.

  1. White Republicans might like the shit Carson says but I find it hard to believe they’d trust a black guy with the reins enough to vote for him…just sayin’…

  2. Over 50% of its members are supporting two anti-establishment candidates. The Republican party, as an institution, is collapsing. The Tea Party movement is about to triumph.

  3. This is wonderful news for social and fiscal conservatives and for the Republican party. I am sure that Trump’s candidacy and outspoken conservative values will resonate with and re-energize the base.

It is also good news for the Democrats. Trump is articulate and quick and this will provide a great opportunity to contrast the Republican and Democratic vision for America.

  4. The GOP base has finally given up pretending that they’re not racist by saying that they like Ben second best. He’s too politically naive and incompetent even for them. He will now disappear, much like Herman Cain.

  5. Do you think they’d vote for a fucking lunatic who says gun control creates world wars before trusting a black like Carson? :smiling_imp:
