Another post-debate national tracking poll has found Hillary Clinton holding a comfortable lead over Donald Trump in the final weeks before Election Day, with NBC News-Survey Monkey finding 46 percent of likely voters supporting the Democratic nominee compared to 40 percent for her Republican opponent.
Libertarian Gary Johnson’s support declined slightly from last week to 9 percent, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein maintained 3 percent.
Clinton’s lead holds steady in a two-way race, where she receives 50 percent support to Trump’s 44 percent.
These margins show little change from last week’s pre-debate survey, where Clinton lead Trump by 5 points in a four-way race and 7 points in a two-way.
Other national polls have shown Clinton holding or expanding her lead in the wake of a debate that most pundits from both sides of the aisle say she won and a week of negative news for Trump. TPM’s PollTracker Average has the former secretary of state with 48.3 percent of the vote compared to 42.2 percent for Trump.
The NBC-Survey Monkey poll was conducted Sept. 26-Oct. 2 among 26,925 likely voters. The margin of error was plus or minus 1 percentage points.
I very much would have liked to have seen positive movement for Clinton rather than just dropped support for Trump.
On the other hand, the trend is still good.
May the trend still continue to be our friend…
Jeez, there’s no pleasing some people!
This is a low-beta poll, which probably means it’s fairly accurate. Movement week to week is minimal. The only notable thing here is HRC expanding by one point in the four-way and losing one point in the two-way. Which is basically statistical noise.
Past tense of “lead” is “led.”
