Hillary Clinton leads by three points nationally, 49-46, in the latest poll from Monmouth University released hours before the first presidential debate.

In the four-way race among likely voters, Clinton leads Donald Trump by four points, 46-42, with Libertarian Gary Johnson following at 8 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 2 percent.

Her lead has shrunk since Monmouth’s poll from late August, where the former Secretary of State led by seven points, 49-42.

The Monmouth University poll was conducted Sept. 22-25 among 729 likely voters nationally, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.

TPM’s PollTracker Average for the general election shows Clinton leading Trump, 46.9 to 45.7.
