Heading into the first presidential debate, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied at 42 percent in swing state Iowa in the latest poll from Loras College.
The candidates are still tied when third-party candidates are included, at 38 percent each, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 9 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 1 percent.
The tie indicates a tightening in the race since Loras College last polled the race in late June, when Clinton led the race by 14 points, 48-34.
The Loras College poll was conducted Sept. 20-22 via live telephone interview, surveying 491 likely Iowa voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
TPM’s PollTracker Average in the Iowa election shows Trump leading Clinton, 45.7 to 41.7.
