Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) leads Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes 46 percent to 42 percent, according to a new poll.
Another 5 percent support libertarian candidate David Patterson and 8 percent are undecided, the SurveyUSA poll found.
The poll was conducted last week, before news broke late Friday that McConnell’s campaign manager was resigning.
The poll’s findings are the third Bluegrass Poll which have found an improvement for McConnell. A previous poll found Grimes leading by 4 percentage points.
The poll was conducted from Monday to Wednesday by SurveyUSA for Kentucky’s Courier-Journal, WHAS-11, The Lexington Herald-Leader and WKYT-TV. Six hundred forty-seven registered voters were surveyed and 569 of them said they are likely to vote in November. The poll had a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.
The TPM Polltracker average previously gave McConnell a 3.4 point lead over Grimes.
