The White House has been pushing Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to quit for weeks, finally telling him he had until the end of the year to leave or be fired, according to a Saturday Washington Post report.
Zinke’s counter-request? To host his Christmas party, graced by lobbyists and conservative bigwigs, before being booted.
Per the Post, he donned a Santa hat and posed with a stuffed polar bear at the event.
The White House was reportedly concerned about the maelstrom of investigations a Democratic-majority House would bring for Zinke and wanted him out before the new term.
Stockings stuffed with coal for all!
Very clever. Zinke now has a giant neon arrow with Investigate Me First!! pointed at him.
Did he invite the press to his party?
And BTW, who paid for the party? If it was public money, bring on the investigation. If it was lobbyists and companies his agency regulates, ditto.
An example of a headline that invites the response “Of course he did.”
Just one more boondoggle before he rides off into the sunset as a disgraced hack, eh? I hope he receives literal black coal in his stockings this year.
