WATCH: Despite Lacking Votes, McConnell Urges Senate To Pass Wall Funding

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) urged that chamber to pass a budget measure that includes funding for President Donald Trump’s border wall in a speech Friday — though McConnell has nowhere near the support needed for the wall funds.

President Donald Trump has threatened to shut down the government Friday without congressional funding for his border wall, but without any Democratic support for the funds, Republicans have been left to bicker among themselves — largely in public — about the importance of funding a wall.

“The facts are clear on this,” McConnell said from the Senate floor. “The need for greater security on our southern border is not some partisan invention, it’s an empirical fact.”
