President Donald Trump told aides that he wants Patriots owner Robert Kraft to come with the team on the celebratory White House visit, despite the bad optics of a President cozying up to a man allegedly caught in a high-profile prostitution sting.

According to a Wednesday Politico report, staffers think it’s a bad idea, but know that Trump’s high premium on loyalty and tendency to stick by men accused of sexual misdeeds will probably land Kraft in the White House anyway.

They are reportedly banking on the public’s short attention span and the hope that Kraft will ultimately not be convicted.
