WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Archives and Records Administration says President Donald Trump’s tweets are considered presidential records that need to be preserved for historic purposes, but officials have yet to say whether his administration needs to preserve even altered or deleted tweets.
After a misspelled statement from Trump’s private Twitter account was altered Saturday and later deleted, an archives spokeswoman said Monday that officials had yet to say whether those records are also subject to preservation.
Trump tweeted the day after his inauguration that he was “honered” to serve the American people. The tweet was later corrected to “honored” and then later removed entirely.
Archives spokeswoman Miriam Kleiman said that presidential tweets, like all electronic communications “created or received” by the president or his staff, are considered presidential records.

Hell yeah, he has to save his deleted or altered messages. If the fucking Wayback Machine can do it…why can’t the National Archives hold fast to that requirement of him? How much are these agencies gonna bend over and give this guy a free ride? He’s gonna fuck you up eventually, either way.
Hold this jackass accountable! The one and only thing we’ve learned about him besides being a fucking egomaniac is that he doesn’t want to be held accountable like every other person in government. He is a public servant now, whether he likes it or not. If he wants to be an unethical prick on top of that, it’ll come at the expense of his own tiny little twitter thumbs, and his own inability to control his impulses at self-destructive behavior. I don’t develop this type of software, but some script-kitty s/b able to set up an old machine w/ a browser and a twitter account that only follows two accounts, @realDonaldTrump and @POTUS. Any time a tweet arrives, it’s automatically stored in a database.
Could be stored as a screenshot, or as whatever the API for twitter defines as the message fields.
This should be easy for someone out there. Maybe even have several, one for each of the twitter accounts for each of the twits that now occupies the WH.
One of the nice things about the internet is that it’s awfully hard to unpost a message.
