President Donald Trump was left in the lurch when Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff, Nick Ayers, turned down the opportunity to replace John Kelly as White House chief of staff.

According to a Monday CNN report, Trump was so on board with Ayers that he already assigned him the job of evaluating White House staff to turn the ship in a more politically savvy direction.

One source told CNN that Trump is “super pissed” that Ayers and the White House could not come to terms on the length of time he’d serve. The White House is now scrambling for alternates.
