President Donald Trump shrugged off reports that his former deputy national security adviser Dina Powell is the front runner to replace Nikki Haley as ambassador to the United Nations, but said “we’re certainly looking” at Powell.
“She’s somebody we’re talking to, we like Dina, Dina did great here,” he told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. “She then went back into the private sector for a while, but she always wanted to come back. She loves this administration. So we’re certainly looking at Dina, and we’re looking at others.”
Politico reported on Wednesday that Powell was the frontrunner for the post and the Goldman Sachs executive had already been contacted by the White House.
