Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) joined Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) Monday in calling for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser, professor Christine Blasey Ford, to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the episode of alleged sexual assault.
Professor Christine Blasey Ford deserves to be heard and Judge Kavanaugh deserves a chance to clear his name. Both have said they are willing to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee and I hope they will be given the opportunity to do that as quickly as possible.

Manchin does not sit on the committee, but represents an important vote as a red-state Democrat who sometimes crosses the aisle to vote with Republicans, as when he voted to confirm Supreme Court justice Neil Gorsuch.
Ford already took a lie detector test. Let’s do the same for Kavanaugh.
Sounds like Manchin and Collins are working on a vote swap to save both their political careers.
@tsp Most psychologists and other scientists agree that there is little basis for the validity of polygraph tests. The last thing we need is for Kavanaugh to “pass” a lie detector test.
I am not saying he should take one. But I think it speaks well of Ford’s credibility that she took one and was willing to take one.
I also just love it when Right Wingers like Kavanaugh are forced to take Civil Libertarian positions totally out of self interest…it is a violation of Kavanaugh’s due process rights to even suggest that the poor thing might take a polygraph when he claims that Ford totally hallucinated this allegation…it is akin to accused witches being thrown into a lake…his presumption of innocence…
