2020 Democratic candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden took a swipe at Rudy Giuliani in an interview published on Tuesday after the President’s lawyer almost traveled to Ukraine to push the government to open an investigation into his son, Hunter Biden.

“It’s sort of Giuliani’s style and this administration,” Biden told New Hampshire local station WMUR. “It is inappropriate. Unrelated to me, it’s just inappropriate to send your lawyer to a foreign government to try to get them to do something that has no bearing except to try to embarrass.”

Last week, Giuliani announced he was traveling to Ukraine to convince officials to investigate whether Biden had used his position as vice president to shield his son’s business dealings from legal scrutiny. He then cancelled the trip a few days later, bizarrely claiming that the meeting was a “set up.”

Biden defended his son from any suggestions of impropriety, saying he has “faith in him.”

“There was no communication with my office,” said Biden. “We never once spoke about it.”

Over the weekend, Biden’s campaign called Giuliani’s Ukraine plan a “blatantly political smear.”
