Former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton mockingly slammed special counsel Robert Mueller and President Trump by suggesting it would be completely legal for a “hypothetical” 2020 Democrat to call on China to get Trump’s tax returns.

Imagine, Rachel, that you had one of the Democratic nominees for 2020 on your show,” she said, during an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Wednesday. “And that person said, ‘you know, the only other adversary of ours who is anywhere near as good as the Russians is China. So why should Russia have all the fun? And since Russia is clearly backing Republicans, why don’t we ask China to back us. … And not only that, China, if you’re listening, why don’t you get Trump’s tax returns? I’m sure our media would richly reward you.’ Now, according to the Mueller report, that is not conspiracy, because it’s done right out in the open.”

During the 2016 campaign, then-candidate Trump called on Russia to hack Clinton’s emails. Not long after, a trove of hacked Democratic National Committee emails were dumped on WikiLeaks. That particular public call from Trump was ruled out as collusion in the Mueller report.
