Though Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has been coy in speaking about a 2020 bid, her actions belie her intentions.

Hot of the heels of a conveniently timed book tour, Harris is shuttering her state campaign committee, a necessary step to prepare for a national run according to a Tuesday Politico report.

She is reportedly donating about $1 million from that account to various organizations that serve immigrants, fire fighters and domestic workers, among others.

She has not yet announced a 2020 bid officially, though she teased her upcoming decision Tuesday on the View.

  1. It drives Trump to madness when he’s challenged by a woman, on anything. I’m unsure which woman among many would be his best challenger, but a woman at the top of the 2020 ticket would assure Trump dials up his idiocy and misogyny to “11” on the dial.

  2. I half expect his border wall to have a “No Gurlz Aloud” sign on it.

Just seems too early in her national career to be planning a run. She’s been attorney general in CA, but not Governor and she’s only been a Senator for 2 years. Seems like a 2024 run would make more sense and give her time to build political connections.

  4. Harris appeared on the View yesterday. My wife was deeply impressed. She said Harris is the kind of candidate she could get behind.

  5. She’s very good in her serious prosecutor mode, the only way I’ve seen her on committees. We need to see what other qualities she has as a campaigner.

I’m at a point where I don’t care if the candidate coming out of the primaries is male, female, brown, or white. But it had better be a world-class, Obama-level campaigner who can fire up crowds, as well as being qualified in other areas.
