CIA Director Gina Haspel has reportedly briefed the President on the contents of the audio recording that Turkish officials say proves Washington Post writer Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by Saudi officials in the Istanbul Consulate earlier this month, according to the Post.

The White House would not comment on the reported briefing, but told the Post Haspel told President Trump about her “findings and discussions” while in Turkey this week. The Post reported Wednesday that Haspel had listened to the tape, which Khashoggi reportedly recorded himself on his Apple Watch.

According to Turkish officials, the audio allegedly reveals Khashoggi was interrogated, tortured, killed and dismembered after he entered the consulate on Oct. 2. Saudi officials initially issued blanket denials of knowledge of Khashoggi’s disappearance or death, but have since admitted that “rogue” agents concocted the scheme and Khashoggi died as a result of a fist fight.

Saudi officials also admitted this week that those agents plans to murder Khashoggi — who has been critical of the Saudi kingdom — was “premeditated.”
