A second former aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for her role in a political revenge plot involving traffic jams at the country’s busiest bridge.

Bridget Kelly was sentenced Wednesday, shortly after co-defendant Bill Baroni was handed a two-year prison sentence.

Kelly and Baroni were convicted in November over lane closures near the busy George Washington Bridge linking New Jersey and New York.

A prosecution witness who pleaded guilty testified the plot was to punish a mayor who didn’t endorse the Republican governor. Fort Lee suffered four days of gridlock in September 2013.

Kelly was Christie’s deputy chief of staff. She was the author of the infamous email, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee,” that surfaced during the investigation.

  1. She never had a chance.

The scandal was named after her.

At what point did she realize the CC’s bus was for her and Bill

  3. Kelly was a single mother working a full time job so I’d like to be able to summon up some sympathy for her. However, when you’re willing to carry water for a fascist brute like Christie you pretty much deserve whatever you get.

  4. Yep, but it really bothers me that she and Baroni are going to jail while the person who most benefited from it, who undoubtedly ordered it, gets to take a pass. He’ll probably get some sweet job as a lobbyist and his kids will get to live high on the hog, but his coconspirators will go to prison and their families will suffer. That’s just wrong. All three of their asses should be in stripes.

  5. What in the hell does Christie have on these two that they don’t turn state’s evidence on him? Bridgegate or not - they must know where some pretty scary skeletons are buried. Can’t believe they’re taking the fall for that fat bastard.
