NBC is developing a a dramedy series loosely based on former Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, similar to “The Good Wife” on CBS, according to a Thursday report from Deadline.

The show will center on a female Democratic senator, who, after losing the Texas governor’s race, goes to work at her best friend’s law firm, according to Deadline. The best friend is a black male Republican.

It’s written by Jennifer Cecil, a former executive producer of ABC’s “Private Practice,” a medical work place drama spun off from Grey’s Anatomy.

The project is untitled.
