Nina Pham, the Texas nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for deceased patient Thomas Eric Duncan, said a tearful goodbye to her coworkers in a video released Thursday by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Pham was transferred Thursday to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. for treatment. She appeared to be in good health in the video as she invited her treating physician, Dr. Gary Weinstein, to “come to Maryland.”
“Party, party in Maryland,” Weinstein joked.
“Thanks for being part of the volunteer team to take care of our first patient. It means a lot,” Weinstein told Pham as she teared up. “This has been a huge effort by all of you guys. We’re really proud of you.”

It’s a hard job. Nurses should have the resources, and sufficient compensation, to do it. It sounds like these nurses were just thrown into the breach.
The video indicates she volunteered to care for Mr. Duncan. She’s very brave.
I want to know something- what was Mr. Duncan not shipped off to one of the facilities that actually handles highly infectious diseases on a regular basis?
