Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) on Sunday said that he believes that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will run for President in 2016.
“I do think he’ll run. I think he’s been running. And I think he’ll be a meaningful and significant candidate,” Vitter said on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers.” “I think that’s very obvious to everybody who’s paying attention.”
While Vitter was confident that Jindal will make a presidential bid, the senator stopped short of endorsing him, and just stated that he respected the governor’s leadership and political views.
Jindal last week defended the star of “Duck Dynasty” Phil Robertson after he made anti-gay comments in an interview with GQ magazine.
Vitter is weighing a run for Louisiana governor and said earlier in December that he will decide on that race in January.
