In a speech at the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday, the night before he will be sworn into office as the 45th president of the United States, President-elect Donald Trump pledged to his supporters that they are no longer “the forgotten man and the forgotten woman.”

Trump opened his remarks with effusive praise for his supporters.

“I’m the messenger. I’m just a messenger,” he said. “I love you. Believe me, I love you.”

He said that he was looking “so forward” to his inauguration.

“We’re going to see something that is going to be so amazing,” Trump said. “It’s a movement like we’ve never seen anywhere in the world, they say, there’s never been a movement like this, and it’s something very very special.”

The President-elect pledged to “unify” the country and “make America great for all of our people.”

“We’re going to do a special job,” he said.

Trump did not miss the chance to knock those who did not support him during the presidential election, who he said did not give him and his supporters “much of a chance.”

“But we understood what was happening,” he said. “That last month of the campaign we knew that something special was happening. And I can only tell you this, the polls started going up, up up, but they didn’t want to give us credit because they forget about a lot of us.”

Trump addressed supporters who he called “the forgotten man and the forgotten woman.”

“You’re not forgotten any more,” he said.

He thanked his family, and promised to work “so hard” to “get it turned around.”

“”We’re going to do things that haven’t been done for our country for many, many decades. It’s going to change,” he said.

Trump said that he will be cheering his supporters on during the inauguration ceremony on Friday.

“I will see you tomorrow and I’m going to be cheering you on,” he said. “You’re going to cheer me on but I’m going to be cheering you on because what we’ve done is so special.”

“I love you folks. And we’re going to work together,” Trump concluded. “And we are going to make America great again and I’ll add greater than ever before. Thank you very much and enjoy the fireworks.”
