Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump won the GOP primary in Arizona, according to projections from the Associated Press and Fox News.

Arizona has long been at the center of the immigration debate, and Donald Trump was expected to win, with his hard line stance to deport thousands of undocumented citizens if elected. Trump has also said he’d build a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico, vowing to have the Mexican government pay for it.

Arizona’s notorious immigration hardliner Sheriff Joe Arpaio has endorsed Trump for the presidency.

The state of Arizona allowed residents to vote 26 days before the primary, so it was expected that a significant amount of voters already put their support behind Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) who dropped out last week after a poor showing in his home state, The New York Times reported.

Both Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Trump held rallies in the Grand Canyon State this weekend, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich did not, NBC reported.

TPM’S PollTracker Average showed Trump leading with 45.5 percent support, Cruz had 23.5 percent, and KASICH had 14.6.
