Stewart’s protest and the subsequent intra campaign drama came after a weekend in which Republican senators and lawmakers ran away from Trump. On Monday morning, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) told his members they should do whatever they had to to win their races even if that meant abandoning the nominee with a month to go until the election. And, while Ryan did not unendorse Trump, he said he would not be appearing with Trump on the campaign trail.
Now the civil war is internal to the campaign, and not just internal to the GOP. Concentric circles slamming against each other. Sweet.
