An 18-year-old Texas Southern University freshman student is dead after a shooting outside an apartment building on the Houston campus, police said Friday.
The shooting occurred at the Courtyard Apartments at about 11:30 a.m., triggering a lockdown on campus. Two suspects are now in police custody, while a third remains at large.
KPRC reported one victim has taken to the hospital in critical condition, where they died. Another victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Classes are cancelled for the rest of the day, according to a statement from the university.
A shooting was reported near another apartment building around midnight on Thursday, university police confirmed in a statement, which left one wounded.
Texas Southern University is a historically black college in Houston with around 10,000 students.
One student was killed and three others injured in a shooting at Northern Arizona University early Friday morning.
