Presidential candidate and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) floated his pick for the next House speaker while campaigning in Sioux City, Iowa: Mark Levin, the conservative talk radio host who worked for the Reagan White House.
“I think the next speaker should be Mark Levin,” Cruz said at a rally Western Iowa Community College on Monday, according to a report by Iowa newspaper Quad-City Times.
The House speaker race is in disarray after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) dropped out of the race on Thursday. Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) are still in the running as more Republicans are voicing support for Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the high-profile chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Ryan has repeatedly said he doesn’t want the position.
Levin said Tuesday doesn’t want the position either.
Thank you, Ted, but I’ll have to pass http://t.co/FoD61MFAMl
