Jon Stewart Questions If He Really ‘Eviscerated’ Everyone Sufficiently (VIDEO)

“The Daily Show” reviewed the issues, politicians and pundits it eviscerated, destroyed and slammed in Jon Stewart’s 16-year tenure on Wednesday, and asked the question: Did the show sufficiently destroy the world?

“We’ve built a monument to evisceration. Issues, pundits, politicians, we here at the show left no target un-disembowled,” Stewart said, putting up a graphic with headlines showing him doing just that. “In fact, if you’re still walking around with a belly of viscera, know this: We didn’t forget you. We’ll put it all up on the web. By the way it wasn’t just eviscerated. We demolished, crushed.”

But “The Daily Show” then took a quick catalog: Is ISIS still powerful? Are big banks still around? Is Fox News still an important part of our political discourse?

Stewart didn’t like what he found.

“What is going on? The world is demonstrably worse than when I started. Have I caused this?!?” Stewart asked, pulling out a Hamlet-like skull. “Have my efforts all been for naught?”

Depending on who you ask, this is more than likely true, but the New York Mets are in first place in the National League Eastern Division so Stewart still had reason to celebrate.

  1. It’s difficult to eviscerate, demolish or destroy people and entities like Faux Snooze who could care less as long as the money and attention keep rolling in.

Thanks for doing your very best John! You’ll be missed. For sixteen years you immersed yourself in calling out the absurd, the shameless, the dickish and the dickless.

And you came out of it untainted yourself.

i think he provided some kind of outlet for people disturbed by the torture, corruption and general all around failure of the institutions; but it was only momentary… until the credits rolled.

  3. Fox could be reduced to its constituent atoms and they’d still say “Stewart didn’t dent us.”
“Eviscerated” …it has a lovely ring to it when associated with a Fox take down.

  4. You might recall that Stewart was on a tear a few years about talking heads and the yelling and manufactured outrage their programs engendered. Paul Begala a long time Clinton adviser recalls what Stewart had to say about the concept of political bombast as entertainment.

  5. Well, TPM definitely eviscerated Jon Stewart with that headline.
